2023: Revivng "The Friend", a papier mâché effigy we create to hold the names of any and all people we wish to remember, celebrate and honor who have died. Say Their Names! Welcome the energy of our ancestors to inspire us to be the Good Trouble in these times. Between now and winter solstice this effigy can be used in ceremony, ritual and Conscious Activism. Any community can borrow it to hold their grief and celebration of life. Each layer of the this effigy we will fill with the names of those we remember; especially those who voice and energy we welcome to assist us to bring change to our world. Whether it be the peace makers who remind us change can happen like Harvey Milk or the voiceless who were killed in gun violence or tragedy we want to say their names. Friends,family and all those in your hearts,this effigy is a way to reflect on our shared struggle for peace. List names below of those who you wish to remember. Rise Up Lovingly: What is your vision for our world?

On December 21st, 2023 this new incarnation of "The Friend" will be burned releasing the prayers and intentions of hundreds of people. The Friend has many layers of paper carrying messages from our hearts. The ultimate intention of all these prayers is PEACE.

 

Injustice, Inequality and Conflicts

Throughout the next months we will continue  constructing "The Friend", adding the names of people places and things concerning : injustice, inequality and conflicts in our world . Our heart's desires, intentions, prayers for our lives and our planet will be regularly added to each layer of it's paper skin until December 21st , 2023.

 

Gun Violence

This effigy belongs to you to assist us all to channel our Grief + Conscious Activism = Movment and Change

"The Friend" will hold the names of those killed by violence (especially gun violence) in our country; our prayers for their souls,family and our shared grief.

Our effigy will be used to hold the names of those killed by violence in our country, our grief and messages of love and intentions for social justice.

 

 

Light a Fire

This year we are inviting, queer people, queer communities and queer allies to join us in lighting a candle or burning a ceremonial fire around the world on December 21st.

We are calling people of all genders & orientations on those committed to peace to join us in this ritual aligning our energies for peace.

Thousands of people participated in the last Queer Fires for Peace demonstration. We expect even more people to get involved in this seventh movement of being counted for PEACE!
