The Tarot has been misunderstood.

Rather than being a parlor game reserved for fortune tellers, the Tarot is a serious, yet joyful exploration of self.

Although the Tarot’s origins trace themselves back to the fabled land of Atlantis, this tool of the Western Mystery School has only been in popular consciousness in about the last 150 years.

The Tarot could be called “The Book of Life”, a “Map of Consciousness”, or a “Guide to the Third Dimension Reality.”
And yes, one of its functions is that of divination. However, “divination,” means becoming closer to the Divine and gaining insight into the paths we have

chosen. By “reading” the ancient symbols of the Tarot we tap into that dimension beyond our own where myth and archetypes dwell. In doing so, the Tarot helps us see our present situations in a more profound way and gives us a glimpse into possible choices we might make

Join us on this joyful voyage as we open up the ancient mysteries and in the process “remember” who we are and what where our destinies may lie.

In this 4-week class you will:

  • open your “knowingness” and learn to trust your inner voice
  • become familiar with the structure of the Tarot and the energies of the individual cards themselves
  • learn how to ask question of the Tarot and then read answers in 1-, 2- and 3- card layouts.
  • begin to interpret the cards for others

Prerequisites:
A playful attitude and sense of humor. Otherwise, we assume no prior knowledge of the Tarot

Required Materials:
Each person must purchase a deck of Tarot cards by the beginning of class. ($10-$30, depending on whether the deck is used or new) The recommended Tarot decks are: Rider-Waite and Morgan Greer. The Rider-Waite deck is especially good for beginners and will be the basis for instruction. Crystal Way on Market Street carries Tarot cards. Also, Ebay is a good place to look for used and new decks. Enter “tarot decks” as a keyword. If you get stuck, please contact Donny or Kirk and we will be happy to help you.

In addition, each person must have a composition book or notebook with blank pages to write on. This will be used for class notes as well as for your individual work with the cards between classes.
